This is practicing for edging. You have to feel comfortable almost tipping your boat over! We were practicing getting our hip thrusts right. Our instructor described it as trying to flip a piece of candy from your knee into your mouth.
I should mention I didn't stay dry for long after this picture was taken. Surprisingly edging is much more difficult when you're not holding onto your fiance's kayak...

"I'm in! I'm in!" (only Remi will get this reference. Briefly, I fell into a river while hiking and instead of quickly getting myself out, I yelled "I'm in! I'm in!" thus allowing water to fully saturate my hiking boots)
Show off. He really was ;) Well, he was really good at it anyway.
Remi decided sticking to the lesson plan was for wimps and so took on wet rescues without bailing out of the kayak (in other words, doing a 360 underwater).
He was good at that too!!
