Sarah is off in Ontario, and I wanted to spend to spend some time out in the wilderness so I went for a solo camp.  With Sarah's kind parting words ("Bring the dog back safely or don't come back at all."), I made it to the trailhead early on Saturday.  This picture is from the trip up.
I found a nice spot by a little lake beneath the Flatiron, a small mountain south of the larger and daunting Needle Peak.  That one is climbable, but scary, so I skipped it.
A cornice on the edge of the Flatiron, viewed from my camp.
This is the view from my camp as the sun started to go down.  I swam a bit in the lake, but it was cold, on account of the ice.
On my way back from hanging the bear cache.  Some kids were climbing up the snow field and skiing down on their boots.  Their parents obviously didn't load enough weight.  I was too tired to do much of anything after the hike up.
Lots of dead wood up there.  They have a ban on fires up there, so I decided to follow the rules and cooked over the stove.  Not as fun.
That's the needle on the left at sunset.
The view from camp in the morning.
 Your fearless narrator.
A cornice on the edge of the Flatiron.
 Ditto.
Maggie was lying in every pond/tarn/creek she could find.  She's not a puppy anymore.
I bought a polarizing filter for the camera... It works pretty well in the sun.
The view from my camp.  That's Yak Peak in the middle.  We climbed it last year.
