Lightning Lakes snowshoe with Raj!

The snow has arrived!  In early January our friend Raj came to visit from interior BC for a snowshoe adventure.  We were all able to take the first Friday in January off and we hit the slopes.
It was very snowy!!  In fact, there was a clear line in the mountains where there was and was not snow.  We came around a corner on the highway and were suddenly cast into a winter wonderland!  Maggie was in doggy heaven!  Believe it or not, she's actually on the trail - we had to break trail the entire hike.
It was amazing in the woods.  All of the trees were snow-covered.  It was cold enough to feel crisp and clean, but wasn't frigid.  It was also calm, no wind or blowing snow.

We had to cross a few bridges that were a bit dodgy.  You couldn't quite tell where the bridge (usually just a log or two wide) ended and the snow began!
Remi, breaking trail.  Maggie was actually at the head of the pack for most of the hike.  She's quite the trooper for a senior citizen!
Raj and Remi ventured out on the lake to play with their cameras.  Maggie tagged along.
We passed between these tall trees.  I felt like I was in the Lord of the Rings!
The snow was so deep!!
We were all quite tired by the end, but it was so great to be out in the fluffy snow that everyone was still smiling!

Looking forward to the next time!!
